Seasonal Cleansing

In reality, allopathic medicine should be called alternative medicine. as ayurveda is older, holistic, time tested, proven with side benefits not side effects

Why Complete an ayurvedic cleanse…

Your body is so intelligent and incredibly hard-working. Every day and every night, it processes all so many inputs—distinguishing what’s good for you from what’s not, eliminating any harmful substances as well as metabolic waste.

In today’s fast paced world, our bodies and minds are inundated with constant stressors: environmental toxins, processed foods, unresolved emotions, and psychological stress, to name a few.

In attempting to “digest” it all, we accumulate some degree of toxicity—which, over time, can build up in the system, deposit in the tissues, and compromise our health, manifesting as disease and imbalances in mind and body.

But there is something you can do to give your body a break.

********

This is where Ayurveda seasonal cleansing comes in! ‘Slowing the flood’ so that the body can rest, recuperate, and repair itself. When the level of inputs slows, your body will immediately take advantage of the lull to do some very deep cleaning.

The practice of cleansing is considered a vital part of an Ayurvedic lifestyle, with great potential for improved energy, strength, and immunity, as well as a renewed love of life.

An Ayurvedic cleanse rests and resets the digestive system, eliminates toxins, and simultaneously removes excess Vata, Pitta, and Kapha from the body—all of which serve to promote improved balance and overall health.

Some signs we need a cleanse and reset:

·         Fatigue

·         Anxiety

·         Indigestion

·         Insomnia

·         Excess weight gain

·         Skin rashes

·         Eczema

·         Foggy minded

·         Feeling sluggish

·         Water retention

Springtime is known as the “hungry gap” by farmers as it’s a time when the winter stores are depleted, and the abundance of summer crops have yet to grow. However, this seasonal restriction creates an ideal pause in the high fat and protein foods of winter and the high sugar and carbohydrate foods of summer.

Nature provides us with the perfect foods to support our bodies’ natural period of cleansing in the form of the bitter greens that start growing in this season. These include spinach, kale, mustard greens, Swiss chard, parsley, dandelion, celery, asparagus, watercress, green beans and early salad leaves. Many of these are a rich source of beta-carotene, iron, calcium, polyphenols and vitamins C, K and A.

Spring is abundant in foods that stimulate the production of bile and its excretion
from the gallbladder speeding up the digestion of proteins and fats.

The lymphatic system is the body’s largest circulatory system and must deal with removing the body’s waste products and delivering nutrients. Inflammation and oxidative stress reduce lymphatic flow - so foods such as beetroots, red cabbage and red berries which are high in antioxidants are excellent for keeping the lymph moving. Many of the greens available in spring, especially dandelion also naturally lower blood-sugar.

Resetting the body’s natural ability to use fat for energy and eliminate toxins efficiently, can really make noticeable improvements and positive changes to your health.

This cleanse is an opportunity to increase awareness of how your body responds to different food and the effect on physical and emotional wellness. We restrict certain foods that contribute to congestion and utilise the benefits of foods and herbs that naturally scrub and promote clearing processes in our bodies.

The aim is to promote a feeling of wellness and satisfaction rather than feelings of stress and restriction.  Bringing back energy, clarity and balance to mind and body.         You will be guided and supported fully all the way through, with recipes, foods and herbs to enjoy, lifestyle advice and have your questions answered too anytime. If this sounds right for you, I look forward to sharing this seasonal cleanse together and thank you for joining!
